Position: Partner Relations Manager Department: Publisher's Office Reporting Line: Head of Academic Engagement, China Starting date: July 1st, 2024 Role Location: Beijing About this position We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic individual to join our team as a Partner Relations Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and managing partnerships with AIPP’s scientific journal publishing partners in China. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the scholarly publishing landscape, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in building and maintaining successful partnerships. Responsibilities: Identify and Establish Partnerships (20%)  Develop and implement a strategy to establish publishing partnerships that align with the organization's goals.  Research and identify potential journals in China for publishing partnership.  Initiate contact with potential partners and build strong relationships.  Collaborate with legal and relevant stakeholders to finalize partnership agreements. Maintain and Strengthen Relationships (30%)  Act as the primary point of contact for partner journals and their affiliated organizations.  Regularly communicate with partners to understand their needs and address any concerns.  Collaborate effectively with the US team to facilitate the onboarding process for new partner journals.  Collaborate with internal teams and partners to ensure the successful execution of joint projects. Partner Journal Management (50%)  Generate, in collaboration with the AIPP New York office and partner journals, a publishing strategy to ensure the journal can develop into high quality publications in their respective fields.  Track key performance indicators, set targets/budgets, and measure success in producing and executing strategy to meet those targets (i.e., journal submissions, publications, turnaround times, author satisfaction, indexing, revenues, etc. )  Work closely with editors/editorial office to determine content that can form a a basis for marketing efforts and for focused online features aimed at generating or enhancing presence in key research communities.  Attend topical conferences and Publishing Partner meetings as appropriate and conduct author/member outreach to engage community and develop and promote product/topic-oriented communities.  Partner with Marketing to develop strategies which reflect both scientific and marketing goals for each partner journal title (soliciting Editor/editorial office and community feedback as necessary)  Enforce existing editorial policies and procedures and assist with identifying and implementing new policies as needed. Qualifications:  Master's degree in a science or technology field; a PhD degree is a plus  3+ years of experience in publishing industry  Proven experience in business development, journal management, or a related field within the academic publishing sector  Excellent communication skills  Strong organizational and project management abilities  Familiarity with the academic publishing industry and scholarly communication  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment  A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving  Dedication to customer/partner satisfaction  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in English is a prerequisite  Able to adapt work schedule to New York-Beijing time zone difference as needed  Able to travel to partner offices in China If you are a passionate and experienced professional with a track record of driving journal partnership, we would love to hear from you.
